Drawings you can use them in

Garage entrances and ramps, parking sections, drive-throughs, toll booths and car washes, street sections seen along the road, and the elevation of a garage door with a car in front of it.

Numbers that work for most US projects: cars about 5 ft 9 in to 6 ft 3 in (1.75 to 1.9 m) wide without mirrors and about 7 ft (2.1 m) with them; garage doors 8 to 9 ft (2.44 to 2.74 m) wide for one car and 16 ft (4.88 m) for two; and a parking garage with 7 ft (2.13 m) of clear height (IBC 406.2.2), 98 in (2.49 m) on the route to the van-accessible stalls (ADA 502.5).

Questions

How wide are the cars?

From the front or the rear they measure 4' 7" to 7' 7" (1.40 m to 2.31 m) across (the wider ones with their mirrors) and 3' 11" to 6' 8" (1.19 m to 2.04 m) high.

Are there cars seen from both ends?

Yes: several cars come from the front and from the rear, among them a retro mini, a city microcar and a 1990s hatchback, so the same car can be shown coming and going.

Do the cars carry brands or badges?

No: the makers' emblems have been taken off; the cars are generic and fit any drawing.

Can I use them in Revit, SketchUp or ArchiCAD?

Yes. The DWG and DXF blocks open in any CAD program as 2D linework, in meters or in inches.

Are they free for commercial projects?

Yes. Every file is free for personal and commercial work, with no account and no watermark.

How designers use these blocks

  • Garage doors and entrancesA car from the front in a garage door elevation shows the clearance on each side and overhead.
  • Parking sectionsCars from the rear in a section of a parking structure show the bays, the columns and the clear height.
  • Street sectionsCars seen along the road fill the lanes of a street section at their real width.
  • Drive-throughs and car washesA car from the front at a window, a booth or a wash bay shows the reach and the lane width.
  • Presentation drawingsSVG and PNG for rendered sections and elevations in Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma or Canva.
  • BIM and other CAD programsThe DWG and DXF blocks import into Revit, ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, BricsCAD and SketchUp as 2D linework.
