Where it goes
A low-profile built-in cooktop for elevations where the countertop line matters more than the appliance: open-plan apartments, model-apartment boards and kitchen sections. The tall pan supports are the only thing rising above the counter, so draw it on the countertop line and let the 2 in (5 cm) strip carry the wok-friendly stance. Its plan has square grates.
Clearances to leave
Keep 24 in (60 cm) of clear countertop on the handle side so a wok can swing without hitting a wall, and 15 in (38 cm) on the other. The tall supports lift pans about 1 in (3 cm) higher than a flat cooktop, so measure the 24–30 in (61–76 cm) gap to the hood from the top of the support rather than from the glass.
